Public Input Meeting Offered on Dubuque Developers' Roundtable
OCT. 4, 2023 (Re-sending with formatting corrections.)
Dubuque residents will have the opportunity to learn about the Dubuque Developers’ Roundtable during an upcoming public meeting. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 9, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Northeast Iowa Community College’s Town Clock Business Center, 680 Main Street. The public is also encouraged to provide input on city development policies and practices.
The Dubuque Developers’ Roundtable has met three times in the last three months and included local business leaders and developers, economic development officials, and City staff. Attendees are encouraged to discuss and propose measures to improve the process for development within the city. Attendance at these meetings was by invitation only.
Monday’s public meeting provides a forum for interested residents to learn more about business development processes and policies, project statuses, and potential policy changes being suggested. Most importantly, the meeting is an opportunity to add additional voices to the conversation.
Greater Dubuque Development Corporation Strategic Initiatives Consultant Dave Lyons will facilitate the meeting. Lyons plans to offer background on the history of the Developers’ Roundtable and provide a review of recent meetings. A developers’ panel will share thoughts before the meeting is opened to public input. The meeting will close following additional presentations and input on development policies.
City of Dubuque staff had previously offered the Developers’ Roundtable as a sounding board for local business leaders. The meetings were discontinued due to a lack of attendance in 2010 but were re-started this past summer following renewed interest from the Dubuque business community, including suggestions for changes and improvements. Recent meetings have been attended by more than 80 participants. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend the Oct. 9 public meeting as community input is key to future success.
