Blockage Causes Sanitary Sewer Overflow on Roosevelt St.


April 24, 2023 -- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE



A blocked sanitary sewer line on Roosevelt St. at Amelia Dr. caused an overflow of approximately 50 gallons of untreated wastewater on to the street and into the storm water system. 

The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified of the overflow around 2:30 p.m. yesterday (Sunday, April 23). Staff cleared the the blockage by 3 p.m. The cause of the blockage was roots in the sewer line.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the noted area, which is posted, for forty-eight (48) hours.
