Dubuque Leisure Services Hosting Job Fair for 2023 Summer and Seasonal Positions on Thursday, Jan. 5
December 28, 2022
The City of Dubuque Leisure Services Department will host a job fair with on-site interviews for 2023 summer and seasonal positions on Thursday, Jan. 5, from 3 – 6:30 p.m. at the Bunker Hill Clubhouse, 2200 Bunker Hill Rd. This event is open to the public and no appointments are necessary. All skill and experience levels are welcome. Jobs are available for ages 15 and up.
More than 250 summer and seasonal positions are available with the Recreation Division, Parks Division, City pools, Bunker Hill Golf Course, Port of Dubuque Marina, AmeriCorps, and Multicultural Family Center.
Job opportunities include lifeguard/swim instructor, cashier, concessions, pro shop attendant, golf course equipment operator, forestry laborer, parks groundskeeper, summer landscape crew member, marina attendant, playground leader, tennis instructor, recreation supervisor, summer teen empowerment specialist, teen night supervisor, softball field landscape crew member, and more. Those interested in summer and seasonal positions may apply online in advance or apply at the job fair. Computers and application assistance will be available.
"The job fair is an opportunity to learn about our seasonal positions, apply, and in some cases, interview and get hired for the 2023 season," said Recreation Supervisor Janna Beau. "Securing a job for the summer now will help seasonal employees plan ahead. We also want to get a good start on filling positions such as lifeguards. Our goal is to open both pools this summer, but that will only be possible if we have enough staff hired and trained by late April."
Those interested in lifeguarding during the 2023 season who are not lifeguard certified are encouraged to register for one of the four upcoming Lifeguard Certification Training Course options: Sunday, Jan. 22; Sunday, Feb. 19; Sunday, March 26; or Sunday, April 23. Complete details and registration information are available at www.cityofdubuque.org/lifeguarding. The certification course fee will be waived for those who interview and are hired as a lifeguard for the summer season.
