Sustainable Dubuque Challenging Residents to Carbon-Reduction Competition

Sustainable Dubuque invites residents to participate in a carbon-reduction competition that guides individuals in taking climate action.

Participants in the challenge will follow a 40-day program with actionable steps that challenge everyday choices surrounding food, transportation, and other areas of environmental impact. The program allows participants to choose alternative lifestyle choices for carbon reduction and track the environmental impact of their daily life.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the challenge with friends and neighbors for greater impact, forming a team of 4-6 households. Teams are encouraged to meet to review the challenge, share best practices, and work together to reduce their carbon footprint.

Registration for the competition is open until Aug. 10, 2022. The competition runs Aug. 15, through Sept. 24. The participants with the greatest carbon reduction will win their choice of a dinner cruise on the American Lady or a shopping spree at the Dubuque Farmer’s Market.
