City of Dubuque News Release

City of Dubuque Participating in America in Bloom National Awards Program

July 15, 2022

The City of Dubuque will host a team of America in Bloom expert advisors on Monday, July 18, and Tuesday, July 19. They will tour various city parks, scenic and historic sights of interest, featured landscaped areas, and many local neighborhoods.

The visit is scheduled as part of the City’s application for the America in Bloom National Awards Program, which promotes nationwide beautification through education and community involvement by encouraging the use of flowers, plants, trees, and other environmental and lifestyle enhancements.

The program provides in-person coaching by a team of specially trained AIB advisors and a detailed community evaluation that offers comprehensive recommendations for community transformation. The evaluation focuses on seven areas of impact: community vitality, flowers, landscaped areas, urban forestry, environmental efforts, celebrating heritage, and overall impression.

“We are excited to showcase our masterpiece on the Mississippi,” said Leisure Services Manager Marie Ware. “During their visit, the America in Bloom experts will provide feedback and share insights and best practices that we can consider here in Dubuque.”

Over 280 communities from 45 states have participated in the National Awards Program impacting the lives of more than 22 million people across the country. To learn more about America in Bloom, visit www.americainbloom.org.
