The City of Dubuque Leisure Services Department has named Andy Unrau as superintendent for Bunker Hill Golf Course. He begins his employment with the City on Monday, April 4.
In this role, Unrau will manage the operations, maintenance, landscaping, and groundskeeping activities at Dubuque’s 18-hole municipal golf course.
Unrau has over 20 years of turf and golf course experience, most recently as the buildings and grounds supervisor for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UW-P). Prior to working at UW-P, he was the golf course superintendent for The General at Eagle Ridge Golf Resort in Galena, one of the Midwest’s premier golf courses. He has worked at several additional golf courses throughout his career, including the North Course at Eagle Ridge Golf Resort, Geneva National Resort and Club in Wisconsin, and the Vail Golf Club in Colorado. Unrau holds a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture, with an emphasis in turf grass management, from Iowa State University.
“Andy has a passion for turf maintenance as well as finding new and innovative ways to increase the quality of a golf course through sustainable practices and collaborative input from his team and the community,” said City of Dubuque Recreation Division Manager Dan Kroger. “We are excited to have Andy join us and look forward to having him continue the great tradition of quality course management at the Bunker Hill Golf Course.”
