COVID-19 Isolation & Quarantine Guidelines 

 
ISOLATE 
I tested positive for COVID-19, now what? 


Everyone, regardless of vaccination status: 

  • Stay home for 5 days. 
  • If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolved after 5 days, you can leave your house. 
  • Continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days. 

If you have a fever, continue to stay home until your fever resolves. 
 
QUARANTINE 
I was exposed to someone with COVID-19, now what?
 
 
If you: 
Have been boosted OR
Completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months OR
Completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months: 

  • Wear a mask around others for 10 days 
  • Test on day 5, if possible. 
  • If you develop symptoms, get a test and stay home. 

If you: 
Are unvaccinated OR
Completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and are not boosted OR
Completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago and are not boosted: 

  • Stay home for 5 days. 
  • After that continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days. 
  • If you can’t quarantine, you must wear a mask for 10 days. 
  • Test on day 5, if possible. 

If you develop symptoms get tested and stay home until you know the results.

  • Total positive individuals to date = 22,044

HOSPITALIZATIONS

  • 35 County Hospitalizations:  Today, MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center has 18 inpatients with COVID-19 and UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital has 17 for a total of 35 people hospitalized with COVID in Dubuque County.  Please note: This count is NOT limited to Dubuque County residents and may include area residents from outside Dubuque County.

  • Of those hospitalized with COVID in Dubuque County 75% are unvaccinated and 25% are vaccinated.

  • Statewide, 923 Iowans are hospitalized with COVID, 131 more than last Wednesday.  72.6% of those currently hospitalized due to COVID and 78.9% of those in ICU due to COVID are unvaccinated individuals. Details at https://coronavirus.iowa.gov/pages/hospital-data

  • 7-Day New Case Rate per 100K Population = 567.25 (+253.82 from previous 7 days)

  • Percent Positivity (last 7 days) = 27.48% (+6.7% change in last 7 days)

VACCINATIONS OF COUNTY RESIDENTS

  • 62.3% of all Dubuque County residents are fully vaccinated

  • 66.5% of all Dubuque County residents age 5+ are fully vaccinated

  • 51% of all county residents fully vaccinated have received a booster dose
