Governor’s New Proclamation & Dubuque County
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issued a new proclamation on Wednesday evening, March 6, that has some statewide implications and some that apply to the 22-county group that includes Dubuque County.

Statewide, the proclamation permits dental services to resume in compliance with guidelines adopted by the Iowa Dental Board, permits some additional businesses and establishments to reopen throughout Iowa in a limited fashion with appropriate public health measures in place, and more.

Statewide, the following businesses may reopen as of 5 a.m. tomorrow (Friday, May 8), if specific safety measures are taken: campgrounds, drive-in movie theatres, tanning facilities, medical spas, and other retail establishments (including: bookstores; clothing stores; shoe stores; jewelry stores; luggage stores; cosmetic, beauty, or perfume stores; florists; furniture and home furnishing stores; tobacco, cigarette, cigar, or vaping stores; toy, gaming, music instrument, and movie stores; and adult entertainment stores).

In Dubuque County, and 21 other counties, the following businesses may reopen as of 5 a.m. on Friday, May 8, with certain restrictions outlined in the proclamation: fitness centers, malls, and some other retail establishments NOT listed in the following paragraph. Before reopening, any business should refer to the Governor’s proclamation for detailed restrictions and requirements.

The following businesses will remain closed through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 15: restaurants and bars, swimming pools, salons, barbershops, libraries, and race tracks.

655 New Cases and 12 Deaths in Iowa, 13 More Cases in Dubuque County
The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) was notified of 655 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Iowa, including 12 additional cases in Dubuque County. Iowa now has a total of 11,059 positive cases and Dubuque County has 175.

12 additional deaths were reported today for Iowa, bringing the state total to 231.
As of May 5, 15 Dubuque County residents are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19. Statewide, 414 Iowans are hospitalized and 4,266 Iowans are recovering or have recovered.
1,757 Dubuque County residents have been tested to date, for a 10% positive testing rate. Statewide, 66,427 Iowans have been tested for a 16.6% positive testing rate.
