March 5, 2020 -- For Immediate Release
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The City of Dubuque Leisure Services Department will reveal two concepts for a re-imagined Comiskey Park on Monday, March 9, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Fulton Elementary School, 2540 Central Ave. The public is invited to view and provide feedback on the designs. Food will be served, and all ages are welcome to attend.
The City has been gathering input on the park redevelopment project since January through paper and online surveys, large group meetings, focus groups, and a youth workshop.
“The ideas the community provided for potential improvements to the park are directly reflected in the two concepts,” said Leisure Services Manager Marie Ware.
Ware says the designs include enhancements to existing features, such as the playground and basketball courts, and new features, including a splash pad and pavilions, seating, and grills, to accommodate gatherings.
Other design considerations include lighting, parking, and creating additional access points into the park. Monday’s event will give residents the opportunity to see and weigh in on alternatives for maximizing the park space and connecting amenities through trails, green space, and landscaping.
