DUBUQUE, Iowa – The City of Dubuque and the Dubuque Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission are now accepting competitive applications from all eligible parties for Operating Support and Special Projects Grants for the fiscal year (FY) 2021 grant cycle, which runs July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021. The deadline to apply for an Operating Support Grant is Sunday, March 15, 2020. The deadline to apply for a Special Project Grant is Wednesday, April 15, 2020. Information on applications, guidelines, tips, and how to apply are available at

Since 2005, the City of Dubuque has awarded over $3.6 million to area arts and culture organizations and other non-profits for programs that reach thousands of Dubuque adults and children each year. In addition, these funds have leveraged other community support for arts and culture events and programs, both cash and in kind.
The Operating Support Fund is designed to assist 501(c)(3) arts and cultural organizations located in the city of Dubuque that primarily serve Dubuque residents with year-round arts and culture events, programs, and services, and can demonstrate a record of programmatic and administrative stability. Organizations must have been in existence for a least 2 years prior to the grant deadline.
The Special Projects Fund is designed to fund creative, unique, and innovative arts and culture projects that focus on community engagement and go a step beyond the conventional. Special projects must provide high-quality arts or cultural experiences that are diverse, equitable, and inclusive whether in the program planning or target audiences, through partnership and leveraging of matching funds. All non-profit organizations, or groups operating as a non-profit, are eligible for special project funds; applications from individuals will not be considered.
Staff or key volunteers from applying organizations are strongly encouraged to attend an upcoming grant workshop to receive additional information on the grant programs and application processes. Two workshops will be held, with both workshops covering the requirements of both the operating support and special projects funding programs. Workshops will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 10, and 12-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, at the Multicultural Family Center (1157 Central Avenue) in downtown Dubuque.
Applications must be submitted through online forms available at
