DUBUQUE, Iowa – The City of Dubuque Park and Recreation Commission will host a public input meeting regarding an ordinance proposal to allow pets in the majority of city parks. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 6 - 8 p.m. in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of the Historic Federal Building, 350 W. Sixth Street.
The meeting is being held to allow residents to share feedback, comments, or concerns relating to the proposal with park and recreation commissioners. Each resident will be allowed up to three minutes to share their comments. The City of Dubuque Park and Recreation Commission, which serves in an advisory role to the City Council, is considering the ordinance proposal for recommendation to the City Council. The City Council would have to approve any changes to the current ordinance.
For those who would like to provide feedback/comments but are unable to attend the meeting, the Parks and Recreation Commission is also accepting input via survey available online and in several locations throughout the community. The survey can be found at www.cityofdubuque.org/petfriendlycommunity. The survey will be available from January 2-17, 2020. Paper copies of the survey are also available at the following locations: - City of Dubuque Leisure Services, 2200 Bunker Hill Rd
- Multicultural Family Center, 1157 Central Avenue
- Carnegie-Stout Public Library, 360 W 11th Street

All input received in all forms will be shared with the Park and Recreation Commission and the City Council.
