[ARCHIVED] Drivers Identified Following Fatal Crash

On July 10, 2017, at 3:44 p.m. Dubuque Police & Fire personnel responded to the 4000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for a crash involving a motorcycle and car.

On July 10, 2017, at 3:44 p.m. Dubuque Police & Fire personnel responded to the 4000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for a crash involving a motorcycle and car. Upon arrival, officers located the unresponsive driver of the motorcycle near the crash scene. He was transported to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead and identified as Andrew M. Gravel, 29, of Cascade, Iowa. The other driver was also located and identified as Leah R. Barker, 30, of Dubuque.


The preliminary investigation revealed Barker exited the parking lot at 4039 Pennsylvania Avenue, and turned left (or eastbound). Gravel was operating his motorcycle westbound on Pennsylvania Avenue, in the southern most lane, and collided with Barker’s car while the left turn was still in progress. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
