On June 6th, 2017, at 12:59 p.m., Dubuque Police and Fire personnel responded to the intersection of Dodge & Locust Street on the report of a rollover crash. Upon arrival, officers determined the lone occupant of the vehicle involved was entrapped and unresponsive. It was determined shortly thereafter the driver was deceased.

While it is early in the investigation, it appears as though the vehicle involved was eastbound on Dodge Street (Highway 20) just west of the intersection with Locust Street, when the driver started to lose control. The vehicle crossed over the median and entered the westbound lanes briefly, before leaving the roadway entirely. While still traveling in an east/northeast direction, the vehicle strikes an embankment along the southbound lanes of Locust Street and goes airborne, landing in the median of Locust Street and rolling across the northbound lanes until coming to rest against a light pole.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification. An autopsy will be performed by the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny. The investigation remains ongoing and more information will be released when available and authorized.
