[ARCHIVED] Robbery Suspect Identified

On March 17th, 2014, at 10:11 p.m. Dubuque Police responded to the area of 2nd and Main Street on the report of a disturbance involving shots fired and a vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers met with a cab driver who reported being the victim of an armed robbery inside his cab, during which he discharged his legally carried firearm in self-defense. A second cab driver in the area attempted to intervene and stop the robbery by crashing his cab into the victim’s cab. After a brief struggle with the cab drivers, the suspect fled the area but was later (12:28 p.m. on March 18th) taken into custody by Dubuque Police. The suspect is identified as Shaun Caprice McCree, 08/03/78, of 7939 East Sweet Home Road, Apple River, IL. McCree is charged with 1st Degree Robbery, a Class B Felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison. He remains in the Dubuque County Jail awaiting his initial court appearance.
