[ARCHIVED] Attempted Robbery Under Investigation

On March 17th, 2014, at 10:11 p.m. Dubuque Police responded to the area of 2nd and Main Street on the report of a disturbance involving shots fired and a vehicle crash.

On March 17th, 2014, at 10:11 p.m. Dubuque Police responded to the area of 2nd and Main Street on the report of a disturbance involving shots fired and a vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers met with a cab driver who reported being the victim of an attempted armed robbery inside his cab, during which he discharged his legally carried firearm in self-defense. A second cab driver in the area attempted to intervene and stop the robbery by crashing his cab into the victim’s cab. After a brief struggle with the cab drivers, the suspect fled the area and was not relocated. Evidence located at the scene indicates the suspect may be injured. He is described as a black male in his 30’s wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dubuque Police Department at 563-589-4415.
