[ARCHIVED] Plugged :Pipe Causes Sanitary Sewer Overflow in Dubuque

A plugged sanitary sewer pipe located in a wooded area south of Holliday Drive on Dubuque’s west side caused untreated wastewater to flow onto the ground.

DUBUQUE, IOWA – A plugged sanitary sewer pipe located in a wooded area south of Holliday Drive on Dubuque’s west side caused untreated wastewater to flow onto the ground.

The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified by the public of an odor in the area and a crew located the overflow around 8:00 a.m. this morning. Additional help and equipment was dispatched to the area to remove the plug and route the untreated wastewater back into the sanitary sewer system.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the noted area, which is posted, for forty-eight (48) hours.
