May 21: Test Iowa Testing Criteria Expanded

Today, Governor Reynolds announced that the testing criteria for the Test Iowa program has been expanded to any Iowan who wants to be tested through this program.

The first step is to complete the assessment at If you have already taken the assessment, did not meet the criteria, and want to be tested, please take it again. As of today, 12,500 Dubuque County residents have completed the Test Iowa assessment. Statewide, over 475,000 Iowans have completed the assessment.

Test Iowa sites are offered at eight locations across the state. Please note that appointments are required for testing. The closest locations to Dubuque are Davenport and Cedar Rapids.

4 More Cases and 2 More Deaths in Dubuque County, 452 New Cases and 20 Additional Deaths Statewide

Since 2 p.m. yesterday, the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) was notified of:

452 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Iowa, including four additional cases in Dubuque County. Iowa now has a total of 16,047 positive cases and Dubuque County has 299.

20 additional deaths were reported for Iowa, including two in Dubuque County, bringing the state total to 405 and Dubuque County’s to 13.

As of May 20, 13 Dubuque County residents were hospitalized due to COVID-19 and 141 have recovered or are recovering. Statewide, 376 Iowans are hospitalized and 8,606 Iowans have recovered.

4,029 Dubuque County residents have been tested, resulting in a 7.4 percent positive rate. Statewide, 115,729 Iowans have been tested for a 13.9 percent positive rate.

There are currently COVID-19 outbreaks at 37 long-term care facilities in Iowa, including one in Dubuque County at Dubuque Specialty Care, which has 47 positive cases and 10 recovered cases. Statewide, there are 1,535 positive cases at long-term care facilities with 636 recovered.
