PEG Fund Grants

Overview


The City’s previous cable television franchise agreement with Mediacom included an annual grant program to purchase equipment with which to produce local public, educational, and governmental programming. Qualified organizations – those with a principal place of business within City limits or a principal regular meeting place within City limits – may apply for funding from this program.

Process


The process is as follows:
  • Submit a grant application along with the necessary quotes to the Public Information Office so a Cable TV Commission meeting can be scheduled to review the application.
  • The Cable TV Commission will consider the application and make a recommendation to the City Council.
  • Upon City Council approval, the organization will need to enter into an agreement with the City of Dubuque for the proper use of the equipment. A typical agreement includes, but is not limited to, the requirement that:
    • The equipment be used solely for non-commercial purposes
    • A minimum amount of programming be produced and aired on the appropriate access channel in Dubuque each quarter of the calendar year
    • An annual report be sent to the Cable TV Commission listing programming that was produced to fulfill the grant requirement
    • The City maintains ownership of the equipment
  • Once the agreement is signed, the organization will work with the Public Information to purchase the equipment in the grant application.
