2020 Smart Parking Meters Pilot


The City has launched a new pilot to test smart parking metering technology across three downtown areas. The new technology is designed to provide additional conveniences for customers and will feature more payment options, license plate recognition, and the ability to select more precise time intervals. The “smart” meters and kiosks display parking rates, hours, time limits, and other important information. They are easy to use, safe, secure, and reliable, with a large screen that makes it easy to see all information, such as remaining time and time limits.


Look at the screen to find parking rates, hours, time limits, and other important information. If the screen is dark, press any button and it will light up. If paying with coins, insert them into the coin slot. Quarters, dimes, nickels, and $1 coins are accepted. Exact change required and coins will not be refunded. If paying with credit or debit card, insert and remove your card. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. You will be prompted through the remainder of the transaction. The Passport parking app currently used by the City on existing meters will not work on the pilot meters and kiosks.

With the [+] and [-] buttons, select the amount of time. The cost is displayed underneath the time. Press the [OK] button to confirm your payment, or [CANCEL] button to stop your transaction. The display will then show the amount of paid time approved and when your time is up. Wait for authorization of the card. Go to MyParkingReceipt.com to receive an email copy of your receipt.
