The arts and cultural community plays an important role in Dubuque's economy and social infrastructure. Through significant partnerships between the City of Dubuque and the Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission, the support of individual citizens and numerous arts and cultural organizations, Dubuque is one of the most vital, creative and attractive places to live and work in the area. Since the establishment of the Arts and Cultural Advisory Commission in 2004, the City of Dubuque has provided over $2 million dollars in funding for the arts.
Art on the River
Dubuque's Art on the River outdoor sculpture project was launched in 2006. Each year, artists submit a proposal for a work to be selected as part of an outdoor exhibit. The selected works are displayed on the Mississippi RiverWalk in the Port of Dubuque.
