Dubuque Fire Department Receives EMS Award

The Dubuque Fire Department has received a 2016 Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Award from the American Heart Association for implementing quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients who experience severe heart attacks.

Out of 931 emergency medical service (EMS) providers in the state of Iowa, the Dubuque Fire Department is one of only four to meet the criteria to receive an award in 2016.

Another Record Year for Jule Transit Ridership

For a seventh consecutive year, The Jule has posted a record increase in transit ridership. Transit usage in Dubuque has risen to over 550,000 annual rides, with a significant portion of this growth a result of increased fixed-route usage.

Dubuque’s college and university population account for a large percentage of the rise in fixed-route ridership in fiscal year (FY) 2016.

Housing Department Offering Home Ownership Workshop in October

The City of Dubuque Housing and Community Development Dept. will host a “Home Ownership Made Easy” (HOME) workshop in October to provide information on City programs, credit and basic banking/insurance and energy savings for those who rent or own a home.

The workshop is comprised of four classes that span four consecutive Monday evenings from 5:30-7 p.m. The first class begins Monday, October 3.

Port of Dubuque Marina - Ice Harbor Flood Gates Closed

UPDATE: With the rising waters of the Mississippi River, the Ice Harbor flood control gates are closed. NO BOAT TRAFFIC into or out of the Port of Dubuque Marina until the river level recedes below 16.5 feet.

With the closing of the Ice Harbor flood control gates, the Marina convenience store will remain open to provide all normal services and benefits to visitors. Stop by and see us for some great end-of-the-season sales.

Suspect Arrested on Attempted Murder Warrant

On September 21st, 2016, at 7:17 a.m., Dubuque Police arrested Charles A. Layfield, 29, of 2227 Washington Street, at the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center on charges of Attempted Murder, Going Armed with Intent, and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon.
