The Dubuque Leisure Services Department invites seniors of all ages to participate in the activities and programs offered.  Activities and programs range from arts and cultural experiences, dance, fitness enrichment, health and social services, nutrition, and special events.  If there is a program you would like to see added to future brochures, please contact Janna at 563.589.4315 or jbeau@cityofdubuque.org


WINERY/COUNCIL HILL STATION TOUR 7000.415- $65

Pick-Up/Drop-off Location: 2200 Bunker Hill Rd

Step aboard the climate-controlled Galena / Iowa Wine Tours bus for an afternoon of friendship and wine!  Experience 2 excellent wineries for wine tasting, pizza, cheese and on-site shopping and an old 1854 railroad depot called Council Hill Station with 99 beers, wine, mixers, and live music. Along the way, learn the history behind the Upper Mississippi Valley Wine Region and Galena as your professional driver takes you into the past. Wineries on the tour are Rocky Waters Winery & Vineyard and Galena Cellars Vineyard. Price per person of $65 includes transportation, tasting and tour fees and bottled water on-board the Galena / Iowa Wine Tours bus. Bus will depart from the Leisure Services Department, 2200 Bunker Hill Road.

Come stretch your body in the most relaxed way..from your chair!  You’ll get a full body strength and stretching workout from head to toe every time in only 45 minutes!  This class will meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings for 4 weeks.  Chair Yoga is led by certified group fitness instructor Pam Connolly.

Join Chef Roy in the Dodge Hy-Vee community room as he demonstrates how to make a scrumptious meal for two in under 35 minutes!  You will leave with not only the knowledge of culinary skills, but you will be given all the fixings for you to re-create the meal at home in your own kitchen!

Snow-sports have changed a lot over the last 40 years. What started as mom & pop developments have blossomed into a booming recreation industry with something to offer everyone. Come see how the equipment has made skiing easier, try on some gear and learn some basics that can prevent an overwhelming first day!  All participants will be able to show off what they’ve learned on a magic carpet practice run!  There is no fee for this program, but registration is required. Deadline 12/7

Are you a snow bunny who would like to explore more options?  The experts at Sundown are ready to help you book a tour!  These seasoned travels will help you plan and book a winter vacation that can be cost effective for the whole family!  There is no fee for this program, but you must pre-register by 10/26.

Did you know??  The Leisure Services Snack Bar is open during November and December and ready to be your go-to venue for games, cards and socializing!  Take advantage of the vast seating and parking accommodations!  No appointment needed- no charge to use facility!  Snack Bar is open 12:00-5:00 pm, Monday-Thursday.  Carry-in snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome.
