Artist Statement

Wings of Change is an organic, streamlined and abstract sculpture in rusted steel. It refers to the metamorphosis of butterflies which are a symbol of transformation.By observing butterflies ,we can relate to our own lives. Each of us transforms through multiple stages in our lives, moments of growing pains; times of hunger and vulnerability; followed by moments of tremendous energy, growth ,wonder and amazement.

Artist Bio

Hilde has been working in clay for over 25 years .About 7 years ago , she started participating in outdoor sculpture exhibits and discovered metal as a possibility to transform her creative talent into larger scale public art work. Since then she has created several large scale public art installations and murals throughout Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois: Chicago, Minneapolis, Des Moines, West Des Moines, Clive, Indianola, Sioux City, Webster City, Newton and Ames
