|Kristin Thielking and Keven Brunett - Stevens Point, Wisconsin
Moving Compass Series: This series references a disrupted journey and explores the idea of finding one’s way when life is out of balance and when traditional landmarks and directional clues are difficult to decipher. These pieces refer to theoretical navigational instruments, each one a separate memory, holding a key to the story, the journey and paths taken. The text and imagery fused within the glass disks relate to buoys, depth charts, historical and contemporary compass designs, and planets. The imagery is both engraved and silk screened onto the glass and then fused into a multi-layered composition. The pieces bend in the same direction implying movement.
