2009 Art on the River Sculpture Kneeling Communication Tower
Eric Troffkin - Detroit, Michigan
Artist's Statement: Is the notion of progress a matter of faith? If so, upon what foundation is such faith built? My artworks are pieces of fiction, fabricated from the familiar visual language of the commercial products and industrial objects that inhabit our architecture and dot our urban and rural landscapes. Industrial electric junction boxes, refinery complexes, communication towers, cell phone reflectors, computer servers, and video monitors are to me as much as emblems of hope and faith in the future as they are mechanisms involved in our daily lives.
Jurist Comment: Pop Art at its freshest rekindling. What more can I say?
